Cathy works at the intersection of machine learning, optimization, and large-scale societal systems. Her recent research focuses on mixed autonomy systems in mobility. She received her B.S. and M.Eng in EECS at MIT in 2012 and 2013, and a Ph.D. in EECS at UC Berkeley in 2018 under the supervision of Professor Alexandre Bayen. She has received numerous fellowships, best paper, and teaching awards, and she serves as the Chair of the Interdisciplinary Research Initiative within the ACM Future of Computing Academy. She will be joining the Reinforcement Learning Group at Microsoft Research as a postdoctoral researcher later this Fall. Cathy will be joining LIDS and MIT in July 2019, as an Assistant Professor in CEE and IDSS.
